Conceptual Design
Introduction:
The network design will have three office locations according to the three doctors that decided. Those three offices will be located in the following cities of Arkansas. One is in Little Rock, the second one will be in North Little Rock, and the third one will be in Heber Springs. The office in Little Rock will be
a local area network in the building, but it needs upgraded software and hardware, because of the personal workstation and network devices for the local
area network (LAN). The office in North Little Rock currently has local area networks that interconnect the PCs in a peer-to-peer mode, and is going to need new machines and updated billing and insurance management software applications. The office in Heber Springs is equipped with standalone personal computers of different ages and no networking capability exists. This is the office that handles the billing and insurance using a 56Kbps modem, and each
computer has a locally attached low-end printer.
Office and Building Dimensions
All the three offices are the same. They are 92’ wide x 66’ deep. The height from floor to false ceiling
is 10’. The height from false ceiling to roof is another 4’.
The passageways are 4’ wide.
The storage room is 20 feet in length, and the IT/telecom room is 16 feet
in length.
Requirements Lists and Software
· One file/print server
· Hot standby server located at NLR office
· Ten workstations at each location
· Laptop/tablet for doctors, nurses, and employee
· Network devices that support LAN and WAN connection included
router, firewall, switch, and wireless
· G-Whiz EMR software
· Microsoft Office Application
· Internet and Email service
· Windows or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 operating
system
· UPS (battery Backup)
Overview
The overview is to design a local area network for each office that will have a data transfer at high speeds with minimum chance of bottlenecks.
Both of the Little Rock and North Little Rock offices should be using AT&T U-verse and Comcast business high speed internet.
The Heber Springs will have to be researched for internet service provider. All the buildings will have the standard of supporting network cable, firewall, switch, and wireless including rewire cat5e or cat6 and patch panel. In case something goes wrong it will have a backup server and recovery to
repair all the disaster and a backup power in each office.
